The next Fortnite season will most likely arrive earlier than most players expected. Epic Games changed the ending date of Chapter 3 – Season 4 out of nowhere, leaving players confused.
Epic did this out of nowhere, which is very unusual. However, considering that there will be a live event at the end of the current Fortnite season, the latest change must have something to do with it.
This article will reveal everything we know about the latest change in Fortnite and how it will affect the next season. Furthermore, this could mean that Epic Games will have an extended downtime for Chapter 3 – Season 5.
Epic Games changes Fortnite season dates
As soon as Chapter 3 – Season 4 was released, players were able to see its ending date. This date can be seen on the Battle Pass page. “Chapter 3 – Season 4 through December 3,” was the message that was seen prior to Tuesday, November 8.
However, Epic Games changed the date to December 2 with the latest update, leaving players in confusion. However, there is a simple explanation as to why this happened.
As you can see in the image above, the new date is December 2, which would also mean that Chapter 3 – Season 5 will be released on December 3. However, this will most likely not be the case.
Most seasons come out on Sundays, so the release date of the next season will most likely be December 4. However, a few weeks ago, there were rumors about the next downtime lasting for two days. These rumors will likely turn out to be true.
Live event and extended downtime
The end of the current season will bring a live event. After the event ends, there will be a server downtime and a “to be continued” screen. Considering that Epic Games changed the ending date of the season, it is very likely that players will get a two-day downtime at the end of it.
Epic usually takes a longer time to set everything up for a new season. Due to this, it is unlikely that the downtime will last just for an hour or two.
At the same time, The Herald quests hint at the delay of the next Fortnite season. These quests end in more than five weeks, which would mean that Chapter 3 – Season 5 would begin on Sunday, December 18.
This hasn’t been confirmed by Epic Games yet. However, players are hoping that the next season starts in early December and that the downtime doesn’t last for more than a couple of hours.
