Epic Games Releases a New Item, Guardian Shield, to Fortnite

Epic Games has released a new item to Fortnite Battle Royale. The item is called the Guardian Shield and was released on Tuesday, January 3, at 9 AM Eastern Time.

This item was leaked a few weeks ago and was also featured in the Chapter 4 – Season 1 trailer. Considering that the current season has a medieval theme, this item is a perfect addition to it.

This article will explain everything you need to know about the Guardian Shield. We will also reveal another change that has come with the latest Fortnite update.

Guardian Shield is a great defensive item

The new Fortnite Battle Royale item can be looted from Oathbound Chests. These chests can be found in many locations around the island and they offer guaranteed Chapter 4 – Season 1 loot.

Here is how Epic Games described the new defensive item in Fortnite:

The Guardian Shield deploys a protective barrier in front of you which blocks incoming damage. This shield can be raised as mobile cover while you and the squad are on the move, or thrown to the ground for stationary, sustained protection. The barrier won’t last forever, so keep your eyes on the shield’s changing color to indicate when it’s about to run out!

Besides the Guardian Shield, Epic Games has also released the first Midseason Drop of the current Battle Pass. A new style for Selene is available for everyone who reaches 10 Account Levels.

There are four other drops that will be released throughout the season. Thanks to these drops, Battle Pass owners will receive new styles for Massai, Doom Slayer, Dusty, and Nezumi.
