As many Fortnite Battle Royale players are already aware, Epic Games will have to provide a $245 million refund to them. The Federal Trade Commission and Epic have settled the latest lawsuit, with the video game publisher agreeing to pay this amount of money to players.

Unfortunately, a lot of players are confused and unsure of what to do and how to get this refund. There is a lot of false information spreading over the internet and a lot of scammers are trying to use this situation to trick players.

This article will explain how to apply and get a refund from Epic Games. We will also take at the official statement from the FTC and reveal all the other important details.

How to get a Fortnite refund

As part of the Federal Trade Commission settlement, Epic Games has agreed to pay $520 million in fines and refunds. Out of this, $245 million will go to Fortnite players.

More specifically, $245 million will be split among all eligible players. The FTC released the list of groups of players who will receive the refund, and if you are on the list, there is nothing you need to do at the moment.

Here is the list of everyone who is eligible for the refund:

  • Parents whose children made an unauthorized credit card purchase in the Epic Games Store between January 2017 and November 2018
  • Fortnite players who were charged in-game currency (V-Bucks) for unwanted in-game items (such as cosmetics, llamas, or battle passes) between January 2017 and September 2022
  • Fortnite players whose accounts were locked between January 2017 and September 2022 after disputing unauthorized charges with their credit card companies.

If you belong to any of these groups, you will need to wait for another update from the FTC that will tell you what to do. Most likely, you will automatically receive the refund, either through the Hyperwallet or the game, if Epic Games sends V-Bucks to players.

WARNING: Please do not open any links which claim that you need to perform something to get your refund. The only legitimate website that can provide you with updates is the official website of the Federal Trade Commission. You can visit it here: FTC.gov/Fortnite.
