Sony has made big changes to its gaming console over the last two decades. Each generation has brought new improvements, and the console creator decided to put a speaker on the controller with PlayStation 5.
PlayStation 5 took communication even a step further by adding a microphone to controllers. Unfortunately, this microphone is turned on by default, which is not something that many players are aware of.
Whenever you join a Fortnite match, your built-in microphone will be automatically turned on. This is especially bad with random teammates as they will be able to hear you, whether you like it or not.
This is a default PlayStation 5 setting, but you can change it, which we explained below.
To mute your PlayStation 5 microphone, you need to press the PlayStation button on your controller, which will show a new menu at the bottom of your screen. After this, select the microphone icon from the menu and choose the Mute option.
From here, you can both mute and unmute your microphone, so don’t forget to unmute it the next time you need to use it. Furthermore, you can adjust the microphone level from this menu.
This will mute your microphone for good until you turn it back on. However, if you want to quickly mute and unmute yourself, you can use the button at the bottom of the controller.
